The  Strategic Assets of the Polish Economy Program is a Freedom Institute initiative supported by the Bank Zachodni (Western Bank) WBK, Bridge and EY (Ernst&Young) Poland. It's aim is to support companies in Poland situated in between small and medium businesses, and large ones. The first edition of the program was put under the patronage of the Ministry of Development of the Republic of Poland of Vice-Premier Mateusz Morawiecki.

What are SAs?

We ascertained that the categories of small and medium businesses as well as large businesses is insufficient. Thus we decided to distinguish the SAs group.

SAs are Strategic Assets of the Polish economy. They are businesses that satisfy two out of three of the following criteria: their annual revenues are between 200 million and 6 billion PLN, their entire account balance is over 172 million PLN without exceeding 8 billion PLN, the number of employees is between 250-5000 people.

In accordance with the results of analyses conducted in western European countries, this category of business is decisive in the strength and competetiveness of the economy in a given country.

These are businesses on a scale that allows the commercialization of innovation based on R&D work conducted in the country (low innovation is one of the greatest weaknesses of the Polish economy)

Goal of the Program

The SAs Program will lead to a better understanding of the specifics of the operations of businesses in the SA category in Poland and will help to identify the main barriers to their continued dynamic growth. Within the framework of the program, in cooperation with entrepreneurs, we will work out concrete legal, tax and institutional solutions with the goal of supporting the development of SAs. The SAs Program will be a platform for promoting these solutions.
